Do you love to wear your thongs in the summer months? Do you hate having to wear runners to the beach? Well, we have the solution for you!
We stock Archies thongs at the clinic and we recommend them to almost all of our patients.
Each member of our team even has their own pair of Archies, with some of us shoe lovers having multiple pairs – there’s just so many colours to choose from!.
What’s so great about Archies thongs?
We all know thongs are huge here in Australia – it’s not summer without a pair of thongs right? Well, Archies thongs have totally revolutionised thongs footwear in Australia.
There are multiple features that make them significantly more desirable than other thongs on the market.
Some of the awesome Archies thongs features include:
They provide real arch support
They include up to 2.2mm of orthotic arch support which encourages optimal foot posture.
They have toe grip
When shoes or thongs are not fixed to our feet using laces or velcro, our toes must claw to keep the shoe on our foot.
Archies thongs include a toe grip which reduces the need for toe clawing and allows your toes to work less!
They are a one piece design
This reduces the risk of the straps breaking, which let’s face it is one of the most annoying things to happen!
They are made from amazing materials
Their soft specialised closed cell foam material is a super comfy material and even molds to your foot.
I have orthotics, can I wear Archies thongs?
Yes! Archies thongs are a great alternative when you don’t want to wear your other orthotic friendly shoes, particularly in the warmer months.
Whilst they may not give you exactly the same amount of support as your orthotics, they will provide significantly more support to your feet than other shoes.
I don’t have orthotics, will I need to break Archies thongs in?
Possibly.
Most people are able to go straight into wearing them, however others may need a few wears.
If your feet are not used to having extra support, it may take a few wears for your feet to get used to this feeling!
We recommend wearing them around the house for short periods at first, then increasing the amount of time you wear them gradually, when you can.
Another great thing about the Archies thongs is that the straps will give a little, so they can be tight to begin with. This is important so that they stay on your feet and your toes don’t have to work overtime to keep them on!
Why do other thongs hurt my feet?
Let’s face it – normal thongs are pretty bad for your feet.
They can serve their purpose around the pool or at the beach. However, in an Australian summer, it is extremely common to see people walking around shopping centres or heading out to cafes in shoes like normal thongs or flip flops.
There are people that are just more comfortable being in thongs than other shoes. The problem with this is that your feet then spend considerable periods of time without proper support and this can ultimately lead to pain and discomfort.
So, what exactly is it about other thongs that are not so great for your feet? Well, they offer very little support, tend to break and are very flat.
