When patients present to our clinic with pain, they are often surprised when we assess the knee and hips as well as their feet. Podiatrists are trained to assess the spine, hips, legs and feet as a whole to determine exactly what is causing your pain.
The body works as a whole and there is a chain of movement running from the spine, to the hips, to the knees and finally to the ankles and feet. Pain or injuries to these structures above the feet can lead to pain in the feet. For example, the position of your knees may affect the way your feet can function, causing pain in both your knees and feet. Our treatment plans for foot pain often also address the need for intervention in other structures if required. Treatments such as orthotics can assist to align the body from the feet up to the lower back.
Here at Watsonia Podiatry, we have a close network of other allied health professionals that will also be able to assist with your hip and knee pain. If we are not the right people for the job, we are able to refer you to other trusted health professionals. Often, we will work in conjunction with these health professionals to get you back to being pain free as soon as possible!
