When clients present to our clinic with pain, they are often surprised when we assess the knee and hips as well as their feet. Podiatrists are trained to assess the spine, hips, legs and feet as a whole to determine exactly what is causing your pain.
The body works as a whole and there is a chain of movement running from the spine, to the hips, to the knees and finally to the ankles and feet. Pain or injuries to these structures above the feet can lead to pain in the feet. For example, the position of your knees may affect the way your feet can function, causing pain in both your knees and feet. Our treatment plans for foot pain often also address the need for intervention in other structures if required.
